Licence Applications

Shot Head, Bantry Bay, Co. Cork

Marine Harvest Ireland has made an application for aquaculture and foreshore licences in January 2012, with a view to investing €3.5million in a new salmon farm site at Shot Head, Bantry Bay, Co Cork. The capital investment is one element of a €14 million planned investment programme by the company over the next five years in the upgrade of its 16 aquaculture sites around the coast.

The company has lodged an application with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for the proposed project at Shot Head.

The investment at Shot Head would vastly improve the company's existing Bantry Bay facilities, enabling improved rotation of the fish crop and creating a world-class operation in the Beara Peninsula which will secure the long-term future of the aquaculture industry in the area.

Through this webpage, you can download a Project Newsletter and a Non-Technical Summary which provide further information on the application and the licensing process. You can also download each of the license application documents which have been submitted to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in relation to Shot Head.

Marine Harvest Ireland has also produced a number of photographic representations of the proposed salmon farm as well as Ordinance Survey maps which pin-point the intended location of the project. For further information please contact Catherine McManus (catherine.mcmanus@marineharvest.com)
